Class 107 DMS Sc52032 was a victim of a fire at Ayr depot in the early hours of 2 January 1984. It is seen at the depot on February 15, 1984, now withdrawn and stripped of underframe components. Despite the condition, it moved to the Derby RTC for conversion to a lab unit which was later abandoned. Hamish Stevenson.

Ayr Depot yard on 23rd March 1986, with Class 37 37131 and Class 107 Derby Heavyweight DMU 107445, with DMCL 52015 visible. The grey Toad (Type AA21) brake van, DW17415 built at GWR Swindon Works in 1940, is noteworthy. Gordon Edgar.
Withdrawn Class 107 DMBS SC52002, Ayr depot, 17 May 1986. By the summer it would be a grounded body on the depot. The 27s are 27010 and 27047, note the Class 120 with the sheeted over cab windows. Stuart Mackay Collection.

Ayr depot on 15/9/86 with a very mixed set comprising 53491 (cl.104) nearest the camera, with 59559 (cl.101) and 53705 (cl.120) behind. This set was typical of those on the Ayr line at this time, with Ayr depot almost seeming as though they were lashing together anything that could turn a wheel so as to keep the service going until the advent of the electrics. Leonard Rogers.
A view inside Ayr depot on the morning of 24/7/87 shows a line of driving motor cars, with cl.120 no.53741 (labelled for 120 518) most prominent. To its left is the cab of 53651 and behind it are cl.104 53505 and cl.105 53380. All the cars are now withdrawn and are being stripped for spares. Leonard Rogers.
E59245 on Ayr shed. It was transferred from Heaton to Eastfield in early October 1987, and would initially run between DMSs 52053 + 52059 which had been at Ayr for a few months but would also move to Eastfield. The vehicle has very recently been repainted, but still has an E prefix, perhaps suggesting that the inter-regional move was not planned. The Met-Camm centre car alongside seems to have a scotty dog on the bodyside. Andrew McConnell.
107435 (presumably 52019 closest) on Ayr depot in July 1988. Andrew McConnell.
101353 lies out of use at Ayr Depot on 03-12-1988. The DMBS (possibly 51236, withdrawn Oct-87) has been stripped of underframe components, the TBS behind is missing a window. Gordon Thomson.
